Taboo! Think Out of the Box!

A word-guessing game produced by Hasbro which I'd never know about its existence until my lecturer, Mr. Hardip showed us how to play and gave us a try on that during our lecture. Honestly, i do not have great interest on word-guessing game but Taboo is different, it ain't like other word-guessing games such as Scrabble.

Taboo is really fun, you have to describe the word given on top of the card without using the words given below the answer and the others will have to do the guessing. It made us laughed for the entire lecture. Since we were not allowed to mention certain words in order to let the guessers to guess what is that particular word is, everyone became so excited, keep guessing and shouting the answers around.

For my experience, when it was my turn to be the one who let my group members to do the guessing, I was pretty nervous and scared if I couldn't present the given words. Fortunately, it was quite okay yet FUN. For my very first time playing this game, I was able to let them guessed 2 words correctly, the words "wallet" and "nick name". I remember it was so funny when I first mentioned "every guy has it" to describe the word "wallet", everyone started to laugh because what first came into mind was the private parts of guys. But then, when I mentioned "guys, you bring this everyday to buy something", one of my group members quickly shouted "wallet". VOILA

For me, the thing I've gained and learned from this game is the "thought process". Different people have different ways of thinking. Through this game, I was able to know how and what my group members were thinking when they were guessing the given words and the way they present something to the others.

I believe that our thought processes will be improved since a fixed time is given for guessing and describing the words in this game. Moreover, team spirit can be developed by playing this game too, since everyone has to cooperate in order to guess the words correctly.

Through this very first time experience on playing this game, I've decided to buy one "Taboo" for myself as it really can develop creative thinking, plus I know it's gonna be fun playing it with friends.
